I designed this 10-session course for people who write at work. It’s intended to immediately help you to improve your business writing. Whether you write work instructions, meeting notes, lesson plans, or simply lots of email, the more writing that’s required by your job, the more this course can help you.
The structure of the course follows “The Elements of Business Writing” by Gary Blake and Robert Bly. Thus, we focus initially on improving composition, organization, wording, and tone. I’ll then refresh your knowledge of the mechanics: punctuation, grammar, and spelling. We’ll discuss how to format your documents for effectiveness, and finally, we’ll dedicate a session to effective email communication. Throughout the course, I’ll emphasize the need to consider your audience and your goals whenever you write for the workplace.
